Tweed fabric comes from Scotland. It is made of thick carded yarn and undergoes two characteristic processes: fulling and scratching. Foiling consists in crumpling and crushing fibers moistened in chemicals, thanks to which the fibers shrink and tighten, and fine hairs are compacted. As a result, the material has a compact structure and protects against wind and moisture. Scratching, on the other hand, consists in bringing out tiny hairs on top - this treatment makes the fabric not so stiff and improves the visual effect: the contours of the pattern are blurred and the whole thing becomes softer.
These materials are perfect for skirts, costumes, dresses, capes, jackets.
