Polar
Jego historia jest względnie niedługa, ponieważ sięga zaledwie lat siedemdziesiątych XX wieku. Polar został opracowany dokładnie w 1979r. w pewnym przedsiębiorstwie o nazwie Malden Mills, a jego nazwa wywodzi się od materiału, które to przedsiębiorstwo produkowało. Dzisiaj istnieje wiele rodzajów polarów, które rozróżnia się przede wszystkim pod względem grubości i przepuszczalności powietrza. Dzianina polar
Polar jest materiałem syntetycznym, produkowanym z tworzyw sztucznych. Jego cechą charakterystyczną jest to, że posiada bardzo dobre właściwości termoizolacyjne, lepsze nawet niż wełna, a co najlepsze, po zmoczeniu nie traci tych właściwości. Polar jest ponadto hydrofobowy, a więc zawiera włókna, które przynajmniej w początkowym stadium, zapobiegają dostawaniu się wilgoci do środka. Materiał ten natomiast jest paroprzepuszczalny, w związku z czym osoba go nosząca nie poci się nadmiernie.
